Case Report1- Carbon Black Powdering from Waste Tires in the United States
Carbon black is a carbon-based material. It is a product obtained by incomplete combustion or thermal cracking of hydrocarbon compounds in the gas phase. It is pure black fine particles or powder. The main component of carbon black is carbon, and it also contains trace amounts of hydrogen, oxygen, sulfur, ash, tar and water. It has excellent functions of rubber reinforcement, coloring, conductivity and ultraviolet absorption. It is widely used in various industrial fields and is listed as one of the 25 basic chemical products and fine products in the international chemical field.
Recently, Liming Heavy Industry started construction of a large carbon black powder production line for a customer in Atlanta, USA, and cooperated with three other companies to complete a production line for waste tire cracking, grinding, drying and granulation. The specific project information is as follows:
Hourly output: 1.5-2t/h
Annual output: about 10,000 tons
Processing materials: carbon black after tire cracking
Finished product particle size: D99 400-600 mesh
Equipment configuration: MW1080
Raw material source: carbon black after waste tire cracking
Finished product use: drying and granulation
Process flow:
Waste tires are broken into 0-20mm fragments through a shredder, and then enter the pyrolysis furnace. Through high-temperature pyrolysis, the tires are split to form oil, gas, and carbon black. The carbon black will be spirally cooled and transported to the bucket before the micro-powder mill. After passing through an iron remover, it will be lifted to the buffer silo and fed to the micro-powder mill by a sealed spiral for grinding. After the finished powder comes out, it is transported to the finished product silo at the rear, stirred and granulated, and then dried. After drying and screening, the particles with qualified fineness enter the final finished product silo for packaging, and the unqualified ones will be returned for re-grinding.

Waste tires are first cleaned, then sliced or crushed, and then magnetically separated to separate waste steel wire. The remaining materials are sent to the pyrolysis furnace after drying and preheating. Under the protection of inert gases such as water vapor or nitrogen, thermal decomposition reaction is carried out. Due to the differences in the targeted substances, the processes are also different.
